Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No - numbering runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. The file you upload never leaves your device.

Where do the page numbers go?

Bottom center of every page, starting at 1 for the first page.

Can I change the position, font, or starting number?

Not yet - this is a single bottom-center numbering pass with no options. If you need custom placement, this isn't the right tool for that.

Does numbering reduce PDF quality?

No - pdf-lib draws the numbers directly onto each existing page without re-rendering or recompressing anything else on it.

Do I need Adobe Acrobat or any other software?

No - nothing to install and no account. Upload, add numbers, and download.

What's the numbered file called?

Your original filename with -numbered added, like report-numbered.pdf.
