Paint over faces, license plates, ID numbers, or anything else you want hidden before sharing a photo or screenshot. Click and drag over an area to blur it - the blur is applied directly on an HTML canvas using the browser's own canvas filter, so the image never leaves this tab and there's nothing to install. It's built for quick, one-off redactions, not batch processing a folder of files.
How to use it
- Paste (Ctrl+V), drag and drop, or click to upload an image.
- Set the Brush size slider, then click and drag over any area you want blurred - a bigger brush also blurs more strongly.
- Or press Auto-detect faces to blur every face in one go, then brush over anything it missed.
- Press Ctrl+Z if you need to undo the last stroke.
- Download the result or copy it straight to your clipboard once you're happy with it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the image get uploaded anywhere while I'm blurring it?
No - the blur brush runs entirely on an HTML canvas in your browser. The image is never sent to a server at any point.
Can I undo a blur stroke if I make a mistake?
Yes - press Ctrl+Z to step back to the state before your last stroke.
Can it find the faces for me?
Yes - Auto-detect faces runs Google's MediaPipe BlazeFace face detector in your browser and blurs every face it finds in one go. The first time, your browser downloads the detector (about 4.6 MB). It's one step on the undo stack, and you can brush over anything it missed.
What image formats can I use?
Anything your browser can decode - PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and more.
Can I control how big or strong the blur is?
Yes - the Brush size slider sets both at once: a bigger brush covers more area and blurs more heavily. For a stronger blur on a small area, brush over it a second time.
Once I download the image, can I recover what was under the blur?
No - the blur is baked permanently into the exported pixels, the same as a real redaction. Recovery is only possible before export, using undo.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes - the brush uses pointer events, so it works the same with a mouse, trackpad, touchscreen, or stylus.
