Candid Tools is a set of free, browser-based utilities - image editors, PDF tools, formatters, and lookups - built to do one job well and get out of your way. No account. No upload-to-a-server-and-wait step. No free tier that quietly stops being free.
Why client-side
Most "free online tools" work by uploading your file to someone else's server, processing it there, and sending it back. That's an unnecessary trip for most everyday tasks - formatting JSON, merging a PDF, blurring a face in a photo - and it means a copy of whatever you're working on passes through infrastructure you don't control, even if it's deleted right after. Every tool here that can run entirely in your browser does. The one exception is Domain Info, which needs a server to run a WHOIS/RDAP lookup - that's disclosed on the tool itself and in the privacy policy.
Who's behind it
One developer, not a company. No VC roadmap, no growth team, no feature list driven by what converts best. Tools get added because they're useful, not because they test well.
