How to use it

  1. Paste (Ctrl+V), drag and drop, or click to upload an image.
  2. Click anywhere on the image to pick a color - picking is armed automatically as soon as the image loads.
  3. Click and drag over any area you want painted with that color.
  4. Click "Pick Color" any time to sample a different spot, or press Ctrl+Z to undo the last stroke.
  5. Download the result or copy it straight to your clipboard once you're happy with it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the image get uploaded anywhere while I'm using this?

No - picking and painting both happen on an HTML canvas in your browser. The image is never sent to a server at any point.

How do I pick a color?

Picking is armed automatically as soon as you upload an image - just click anywhere on it to sample that exact pixel's color. Click "Pick Color" any time afterward to sample a different spot.

Can I switch to a different color partway through?

Yes - click "Pick Color" and click a new spot on the image. Strokes you've already painted keep their color; only new strokes use the newly picked one.

Can I undo a stroke if I make a mistake?

Yes - press Ctrl+Z to step back to the state before your last stroke.

What image formats can I use?

Anything your browser can decode - PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and more.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes - the brush uses pointer events, so it works the same with a mouse, trackpad, touchscreen, or stylus.
