Fill PDF Form opens a fillable PDF - an application, a tax form, a registration sheet - and puts real inputs right on top of its fields, so you type straight onto the page. Text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and list boxes all work, and you can flatten the result so the answers can't be changed. For a PDF without fillable fields, click anywhere to place your own text. Everything runs in this browser tab with pdf-lib and pdf.js; the form is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Drag and drop, or click to upload a PDF form.
- Fill in the fields on the page, or switch to "As a list" to see every field in one column.
- No fields? Click the page to add a text box wherever you need one.
- Turn on Flatten if the answers should be locked, then click "Download filled PDF".
Frequently asked questions
Is my form uploaded to a server?
No. The form fields are read and filled with pdf-lib, and the pages are drawn with pdf.js, both inside your browser tab. What you type never leaves your device.
What kinds of fields can I fill?
Text boxes (single and multi-line), checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and list boxes - the standard fillable fields (AcroForm) that Acrobat, Preview and most form builders create. Signature fields are left alone; use Sign PDF to add a signature.
My PDF says it has no fillable fields - what can I do?
Some forms are just a printed page with lines on it, or a scan. Click anywhere on the page to drop a text box there, type your answer, and drag it into place. The text is written onto the page when you download.
What does Flatten do?
It turns the filled fields into ordinary page content, so the answers can no longer be edited and look the same in every viewer. Leave it off if you or someone else may need to change the answers later.
Why won't my form open? It mentions XFA.
XFA is an older Adobe form format where the whole form is described in XML rather than as fields on the page. Only Adobe Acrobat and Reader fully support it, and this tool doesn't. Open it in Adobe Reader instead, or ask the sender for a standard fillable PDF.
Can I type in other alphabets?
Yes, while the fields stay fillable - the file asks the viewer to draw the text with its own fonts. Flattening and free text boxes use a standard PDF font that only covers Latin characters, so text in other scripts can't be flattened.
What's the filled file called?
Your original filename with -filled added, like application-filled.pdf.
